The new VA Medical Center of West Haven is comprised of a 114,650 s.f. ambulatory wing housing emergency ward, six flexible clinic modules, a new main entry, lobby and reception areas, and two lower level storage areas for medical records. Major underground utility reroutes were performed as the structure was built adjoining the existing buildings.
A total of 109,250 s.f. of renovations was performed to the existing buildings. The center acquired a new psychiatric emergency department and a new rehabilitation medicine therapy unit for this facility. Improvements include renovations and/or relocation of the cardiology, nuclear medicine, occupational therapy departments, and the expansion of ambulatory procedures unit and surgery.
