SPC, Chiller Plant Expansion
Owner: Board of Trustees for St. Petersburg College
Renovations to the existing 4,615 s.f. Chilled Water Plant, which services the St. Petersburg College, Clearwater Campus, was a Design Build contract with an original GMP of $4.2 million. The original scope of work consisted of the erection of structural steel structures within the existing building that would be then be used to support the new chilled, hot and condenser water piping. This piping was then tied into the new mechanical equipment, which consisted of a 550-ton chiller unit, a 350-ton heat recovery unit, two additional cooling towers, two hot water boilers, and other related mechanical systems. The work also included a new transformer with electrical services and a total of 1,000 l.f. of underground piping that connected the new systems to the campus. The existing structural elements of the existing facility were not modified.
