Named “The Center of Language, Communication, and Culture Studies,” the Humanities Building provides new lecture halls, seminar rooms, classrooms, faculty offices and reception spaces. The 104,000 SF renovated building accommodates eight Humanities Departments, student and faculty lounges, and Registrar’s classrooms. The 52,000 s.f. addition includes media rooms, lecture halls, additional classrooms a new basement and mechanical penthouse. The exterior facade was a combination of re-pointed existing brick and CMU back-up with brick veneer and cast stone for the new addition areas. The building added two three story open atrium areas toped by aluminum skylights with frit glass. The interior of the building consisted of terrazzo floor tile, an intricate stainless steel railing with glass panels surrounding the open area at the second floor.
