Air Traffic Control Tower and TRACON Facility
Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), Fort Myers, FL
Owner: Lee County Port Authority
The new Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) Air Traffic Control Tower and TRACON Building will replace the existing facility that is in the wrong location to serve the airport and was built before the airport opened in 1983.
At 215 feet, the new Tower will be almost twice the height of the one it will replace and at 17,000 s.f., will double the size of the existing Tower and TRACON facility. The new facility will also bring the airport up to speed on the latest FAA standards for towers as well as building and hurricane codes.
J. Kokolakis Contracting, Inc. is the tower sub-consultant teaming with DeAngelis Diamond Construction as the construction manager.
