Hillsborough County Fishhawk Sports Complex
Owner: Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department
The Fishhawk Sports Complex was constructed under a Construction Management at Risk Services agreement with a fixed GMP. The scope of work included the construction of eight baseball/softball fields, two football/soccer fields, two concession buildings 4,550 s.f. ea., a 1,300 s.f. maintenance building, and four 440 s.f. storage buildings.
The sports complex was constructed on 68 acres of land. The area was occupied by 30+ active Gopher Tortoises, which were removed and relocated to a nearby preserve prior to construction. Nearly 50 acres of the heavily wooded forests were cleared and grubbed to accommodate the athletic fields. Each field was installed with complete sports lighting, storm drainage and irrigation systems. In addition, nearly three miles of walking trails were placed around the fields and buildings. The two concession buildings were designed to accommodate three separate and independent sports leagues.
